On May 18, the #8 in the NJCAA rankings Brookhaven Bears Baseball Team won the District C Championship Series by defeating the Tyler Junior College Apaches 4-0 in the deciding game of the best of three series. The Bears won game one of the series 8-7. They fell in the second game 12-9. The Bears scored twice in the 1st inning and twice in the 8th inning, while allowing no runs, to win the deciding game 4-0. The win clinches the second trip to the NJCAA DIII World Series for Brookhaven Baseball. The Bears also appeared in the 2013 World Series. To earn the spot in the Series, Brookhaven won the District C East Division Tournament Championship in dramatic fashion by rallying from a 7-1 deficit in the 7th inning at Coastal Bend over the Cougars. The team also trailed 6-0 to Cedar Valley before staging a comeback in the District C East Tournament.
