The 2020-2021 Bears volleyball team is under the direction of Coach Jason Hopkins, who is entering his seventeenth season as the head women’s volleyball coach. In 2005, the Bears repeated as national champions and then would become repeat Champions again in 2008-2009.

Hopkins has coached his teams to the NJCAA National Championship Final-Four 12 of his 16 seasons, including in 2019. The Bears won 12 consecutive Metro Athletic Conference Championships from 2004-2015, with multiple undefeated seasons, as well as appearing in the NJCAA Region V tournament championship match all 16 seasons under Hopkins’ leadership.

Coach Hopkins, the “winningest” coach in Brookhaven College volleyball history, has been selected four times as the NJCAA DIII National Coach of the Year and eleven times as the NJCAA Region V Coach of the Year. He has also been selected as the 2009 AVCA Two-Year College Southwest Region Coach of the Year.

Hopkins has coached 10 NJCAA DIII All-Americans, 19 NJCAA Region V selections, 40 All-Metro Athletic Conference picks, two AVCA All-American, six NJCAA Academic All-Americans and four NJCAA DIII National Tournament MVPs. Currently, Hopkins holds the most NJCAA national volleyball titles (four) of any current NJCAA volleyball coach in the nation.

Hopkins is an active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. He currently serves as the NJCAA Representative to the AVCA Two-Year College Head Coaches Committee as well as the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Representative.
